Rheumatology

Rheumatology asks the same three questions for a decade: has the disease moved, is the drug still safe, and can the family still afford it. All three are answered from numbers taken months apart, and in most hospitals those numbers live in three different places.

A disease measured in scores is a disease a record can carry.

Disease activity is a calculation over joint counts and an inflammatory marker. Safety is a laboratory panel with a due date. Cost is a biologic priced per infusion. Each is simple; the difficulty is that all three have to be true on the same afternoon.

Eliminate the monitoring panel that is remembered by the consultant who ordered it. Quest carries the due date, Sentinel raises the result that has left the range, and Glyph holds the score with the calculator that produced it.

Impact and action

The score.

  • Joint counts and disease activity are computed on paper and transcribed into a note, so a comparison against last year is an act of archaeology. The score is a form the department built, with its own calculator, locked on completion and versioned, so an old score still matches the form that produced it.Glyph

The safety panel.

  • Immunosuppression monitoring depends on a patient returning and a clinician remembering what was due.Monitoring is a recurring schedule of due tasks, and a result outside the range the hospital set raises an alert with an owner and an escalation chain.QuestSentinel
  • Screening before a biologic is started is a checklist somebody keeps in a folder. The screening runs as a repeatable procedure with a due step, an owner, and an overdue flag visible on a live board.Cadence

The infusion, and what it costs.

  • Infusion chairs are booked in a separate register and the drug is billed after the fact. The session is scheduled against a real resource, and the charge lands on the account as the chargeable order is placed.QuestVault

Ten years on the same three drugs, and a monitoring panel due every eight weeks throughout.

The department as a resource

A day care unit is a schedule against real chairs and real staff.

The twin knows what exists.

Nexus maintains a digital twin of the hospital: the rooms, the chairs, the equipment and which of it is in use right now, the teams, and the duty roster that says who is on shift. A unit that knows its own state can be scheduled against.

And the reading is live.

Falcon reads from every tool without owning or changing any of it, offers ready-made analysis for the questions a department actually asks, and shows where each number came from.
